Place your order
Choose your favourite website design, add it to cart and checkout. You’ll get a confirmation email with access to all the tutorial videos you’re going to need.
Step 2
Prep the content
Whilst I’m getting your new website ready, start gathering together the content for your website. That includes the copy, images, branding and colours.
Step 3
Access Squarespace
Within 48 hours you’ll get an email inviting you to setup a Squarespace account (if you don’t already have one) and your new website will be ready and waiting for you.
Step 4
Add your content
Follow the simple step-by-step videos to replace the demo content with your own and add your colours and branding (I can help with this if you would prefer).
Step 5
Test it
Before you click publish, go through your website and make sure the links work, the images are in place and there’s no typos. Check it looks good on mobile devices too.
Step 6
Launch it
Yay! The moment has finally come. It’s time to connect your domain and publish your new website. Now get on socials and tell anyone and everyone about it. They’re going to love it.
For those that get overwhelmed by all the technical stuff
I’m not tech savvy at all. Can I really do this?
Yes! This collection of pre-built Squarespace websites has been created for business owners just like you. Business owners that try and avoid anything tech related and don’t have the time (or desire) to try and figure it all out. In fact, you don’t need any special skills or prior experience of Squarespace to use these pre-built websites. They really are that easy.
All you need is a positive attitude, time to put together your content and a willingness to learn the basics of Squarespace, which I’m pretty sure my 9 year old could do. And not because she’s a genius (obvs I think she is) but because the more complex work has already been done. You just need to grasp the basics of Squarespace, which has been designed with simplicity at it’s core.
What’s included
-
This is a one-page Squarespace template (view the multi-page template here) and the page is packed full of pre-designed sections that you can populate with your own content, including testimonials, newsletter sign ups, contact form, services section and more.
Additional pages can added if you need them. You will have access to video tutorials that show you how to do this.
-
Your website will come setup with mailing list capture forms across your website. You can connet these to Mailchimp or other email providers.
Alternatively, you can also choose to use the built-in Squarespace email campaign tool. It's basic but is perfect for simple emails. If you want to send 1 email a week, this will cost an additional £8 per month, on top of your Squarespace subscription fee.
-
Your website will come with a 6 month free Squarespace trial. This will give you plenty of time to add you content, change the colour scheme and really make it yours before you need to start paying for Squarespace.
-
Once you've placed your order, you'll receive a confirmation email with access to an online video library. Inside the library will be a host of simple video guides that talk you through everything you'll need to know to add your content, change the branding, make edits and take your website to launch.
-
If you get stuck at any point, you can drop me an email and I'll be happy to help. You will not be abandoned once you've bought your website. I will be available to help throughout the entire process, from initial purchase to the final launch.
What you’ll need
-
You're going to need a bank of high quality, professional images for your website as well as all of the copy (words) and branding (logo, colour scheme etc).
If you need help with any of this, let me know and I can recommend some awesome people that can help.
-
Your Squarespace website comes with a free 6 month Squarespace trial, but once you're ready to launch your website, you'll need to start paying a monthly or yearly subscription fee.
This costs between £144-£420 a year, depending on which plan you need, with ecommerce being the most expensive.
For this website, the 'Business' plan is sufficient and costs £204 annually.
-
Your website will need a domain (www address). If you don't already have one, you can buy one through Squarespace. If you do have one, you can point it to your new website. Inside the video library you'll find videos that show you how to do this.
Frequently asked questions
-
I use Squarespace because it’s perfect for business owners who don’t have the time to learn something new and complicated. It’s really easy to use and I know that once I hand over your ready-made website (where all the complex stuff has already been done), you will be able to update the pages and make changes with ease. It’s also an all-in-one platform, so it will do everything you need it to do, from managing domains and hosting to setting up a mailing list and selling.
-
Yes, you will need a Squarespace account. If you don’t already have one, you will be prompted to create one when I transfer the website over to your email address. You'll get a free 6 month trial with your new website (usually 2 weeks!).
-
Yes, you can add more pages yourself if you need to. There will be a video telling you how to do this as part of your how-to guides when you order.
-
Yes, it is possible to add a shop to your new website. Squarespace comes with built-in e-commerce functionality that works brilliantly for shops selling a small amount of simple products.
However, please research Squarespace as an e-commerce platform before you buy a website. If you're selling a large number of products or you need lots of add-ons or complex functionality, it might not be suitable. Feel free to get in touch for some advice if you aren't sure.
-
No, you don't need any Squarespace experience. These pre-built websites are setup with the assumption that you don't know anything about Squarespace. You'll get a bank of videos showing you everything you'll need to know to get your website launched and you'll have email support too.
-
Aside from the cost of the template, you will need a domain (www address) which is approx. £30/year. You will also need to pay annually/monthly for Squarespace. This is approx £180/year, although you'll get 6 months free to give you chance to edit your website before your launch.
-
If you want to change the layout in places, go for it. You can duplicate sections and save sections and the editor is drag and drop, so it won't take you long to get a feel for it.
-
When you order your off-the-shelf website, you will get access to a bank of videos that talk you through each step of the process, from adding your content, changing the colours and branding, setting it up for SEO success and launching.
-
There is no need for you to understand coding. I have made small CSS tweaks to create a more professional website, but these are all hidden away and you won't need to touch them.
However, if you do want to make some CSS revisions, you are more than welcome to, but please only do so if you know what you're doing.
-
Your website has been designed and built to display perfectly on mobile devices.
Squarespace has a built-in mobile editor, so as you're adding your own content and making changes to the site, you can review how it looks in mobile and make sure it's just right before you launch.
There will be a video guide that covers this.
-
Whilst multiple people can buy the same Squarespace template, you will be changing the colour scheme, logo, content and imagery, so it will look very different from other businesses using the same template. Lots of people also make changes to the layout and add additional sections so mix it up a little.
Also, the chance of your target audience stumbling across another business using the same template as you is very unlikely, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that.
-
If you want some help adding new content, pages or features to your off-the-shelf website, I’m happy to help. This will be billed at my hourly rate and can be booked on an ad-hoc basis. Get in touch.
-
Once you have bought your template, I will transfer if over to your Squarespace account within 48 hours (often quicker). You can then get to work adding your content. IF you have your content ready to go, there’s no reason why you can’t launch your new website within a week.
-
A website's search engine optimisation is heavily influenced by the content, so although the website will be structured in an SEO friendly way, you will need to add page titles, page descriptions, image alt tags and content that is relevant to your business, all of which will help with your SEO.
You will receive a comprehensive guide on how to setup your website for SEO success, what content to include where and SEO best practices. Squarespace makes it really simple to manage all of this.
-
Once you've purchased your website, you will get access to a bank of videos showing you everything you'll need to know to launch your website.
These videos will cover changing the logo, colours, branding and favicon of your website.
